Tea, the
beverage prepared with the leaves of the Camellia sinensis, has a
long history and multifaceted tradition. The custom of drinking tea, first
begun in China, has extended to all continents, becoming the most
frequently consumed drink worldwide, next only to water. Numerous
scientific papers have already analysed the medicinal properties of tea, and an
this beverage.
The present
conference will create a multifaceted discourse among disciplines and area
studies, bringing together research on different aspects of tea culture.
It will open up interdisciplinary and diachronic reflection and capture the
dynamic of tea consumption in different cultural and historical contexts.
The
conference welcomes 20-minute papers from any relevant discipline including,
but not limited to, anthropology, cultural studies, history, art
history, literary studies, linguistics, economics, technical and
